Melisa Hayes | Project Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH)

When Melisa first entered CPA’s Project SAMH in 2001 she had a 10-year cocaine dependency, two daughters to care for and was close to being evicted from her apartment. The group counseling and discussion sessions Melisa received through Project SAMH helped her confront her substance abuse problems.  She received more support through the program’s acupuncture treatments that reduced her substance cravings.

Melisa has been cocaine-free now for more than three years.  She is moving to a new apartment that is closer to the program, has survived problems with her health and has the patience and time to enjoy a wonderful relationship with her daughters.  Melisa is actively involved and volunteers on many committees.
