John Shaw is a man who loves his son. He is also a convicted felon, incarcerated
for drug related incidents in Connecticut and Maine, and has lost the right
to have visits or contact with his child. While in prison, John enrolled
in CPA’s Fatherhood and Family Reunification programs to learn more
about being a good parent in hopes of regaining contact with his son. The
program involved John in discussion groups where he could freely talk about
love, child support and religion - topics that gave him the perspective
he needed to become a role model father. John took the classes twice and
built a strong relationship with the program director, who gave him guidance
and advice.
With his parole date just around the corner, John is seeking employment,
directing Alcoholics Anonymous meetings, and has filed a parental rights
appeal in court.
