I had led this life that made no sense...I got selected for the Community Partners in Action (CPA) program. I was honestly not going to do it...Thank God I had a real friend in [prison] that spoke to me about the CPA program and how it will benefit you...Everything is different now...These people do change your life. |

Being in jail for so long, it's kind of difficult to transition back into the community... I had nobody to turn to and they have really, really given me that stepping stone, [helping me with] things you don't even think about when you are in jail, but that you really need when you are out here. |

You may not be able to see me physically...But you can see me through my art. Community Partners in Action and their Prison Arts Program bring people into the light--People who are - for the most part - invisible.The workshops that I, and a few other artists are privileged to attend, afford us a rare opportunity...This is the most humane time of our incarceration. |

Statistically, it takes one positive adult in any kid's life to make a difference...I wanted to be able to do that for the kids that I work for... CPA gave me that opportunity...The bottom line for my girls is that all they need is someone that cares about them...One 15 year old kid kept running away from home... Nobody had bothered to ask her why... |

The reason I do what I do is because I love people in general and love kids in particular... It's the most rewarding job I've ever had...There are so many times that I've said, "If I wasn't there today, what would have happened with this kid?" |

Through their artwork in prison, people grow, and they can assess their situation, they can change, they can develop...It gives the community a chance to see them as substantial human being they are...I'm lucky to see great art and see people change and evolve in so many incredible ways. |

I'm awed by the strength of the women we work with...I believe in our mission; I believe that people can change if given the opportunity and given the resources...I absolutely love what I do...I'm a different person. I see the world different. I see the issues of society differently. I'm really blessed to be part of such a great organization. |
