Sharon Cody
Resettlement Program client
I became involved in the criminal justice system at a very early age, in and out of juvenile detention leading up to prison it self. I began hanging out with the neighborhood kids that weren't up to anything positive. I began experiencing with alcohol, and then I progressed up to marijuana and later in my twenties I was introduced to crack cocaine, constantly finding myself in and out of trouble, finding it harder and harder to break the vicious cycle of addiction. I received very little support from my immediate family. I had come from a family of addiction, so everyone was dealing with their own issues.
Community Partners in Action (CPA), especially the Resettlement staff, has helped me to be accountable for my actions past and present, and they helped me look at me when taking a good look at me was not an easy task to do. I was assured that what I saw, and what would be revealed, that they would stay with me while I go through the process of changing for the better. If I was willing to deal with the challenges that I was facing and would continue in the process that, the answers would be revealed. I believed them then and know totally.
The Biggest Benefit received from CPA Easy! Confidence in myself, Believing that I m deserving of good things in life and that I matter. Also knowing that complete strangers can take you in, and love you and become the family support that you never had that has to be one of the biggest! I love CPA for that. I believe that this establishment is built on the love for humanity. And today, I am an extremely proud and grateful employee of CPA.
